As a member of Brisbane Catholic Education we value high quality, inclusive Catholic Schooling. Our school caters for students from Prep through to Year 6. We have two streams at each year level. The school offers a comprehensive and quality curriculum. St Kevin’s also provides excellent pastoral care within a Catholic environment, linking closely with the Parish and local community. We pride ourselves on offering a variety of learning experiences for our students both in and outside the classroom. We have an active Environmental Crusaders club, Robotics Club, Sport Program, Music Program and Student Buddy System. We also provide an opportunity for external lessons in speech and drama, chess and instrumental lessons. Our parent community is very active and we welcome participation from our families in the learning of our students. Assemblyhttp://www.stkevinsgeebung.qld.edu.au/community-news/Pages/June-Assemblies.aspxAssembly
On Wednesday, the Prep B students led our assembly. The children read beautifully as they told us about the many stories Jesus told and the lessons we could learn from these. They then gave us many suggestions on how we could be good friends. They shared many great ideas, such as: helping others when they are hurt, following school rules, telling someone how beautiful their colouring is, sharing and smiling. We thank these lovely Prep students for their wonderful ideas.

What we also saw was:

Resilience when speeches had to be changed when new information was introduced,

Students preparing to step into other debates and help out when traffic caused us havoc,

Our supportive community of parents helping other students find where to go while their parents parked cars,

Students who weren't debating, coming along to cheer on their friends,

The incredible degree of inquisitiveness with everyone eager to find out what the next topic will be and what position they are taking, and

Without any prompting, our students seeking personal feedback from the adjudicator and their eagerness to improve was always evident.

The highlight of the evening, after witnessing all of this, was hearing the adjudicator's reaction to finding out this was our students' first time debating. She was so surprised and hadn't realised that the students had no prior experience other than classroom preparation. We congratulate the students on their wonderful work, their parents for their fabulous support and our amazing teachers for making it all happen so effortlessly. Needless to say, we are all excited for the next debate in August.

Life in Year 4http://www.stkevinsgeebung.qld.edu.au/community-news/Pages/Life-in-Year-4.aspxLife in Year 4
<span style="color:#202020;line-height:107%;font-family:"helvetica",sans-serif;font-size:9pt;">This term, Year 4 are being wonderful caretakers of creation. Each class has their own tank of tadpoles that they are caring for and studying their growth. The tadpoles will grow into striped marsh frogs which are native to coastal Eastern Australia. They arrived as eggs and have already grown into tadpoles. Later in the term, the students will use their design skills to create pontoons for the frogs to use.

<span style="color:#202020;line-height:107%;font-family:"helvetica",sans-serif;font-size:9pt;">O<span style="color:#202020;line-height:107%;font-family:"helvetica",sans-serif;font-size:9pt;">ur Year 4 students are also enhancing their coding and programming skills with the introduction of Makey Makey. The students create a code on their laptop to make something happen. They then connect their motherboard and circuits to shift the controls from the keyboard to an external product. It is really exciting to hear of the great ideas the students are creating in Year 4 at the moment.
