Robotics Competition 2016

Last Sunday, several of our students participated in the FIRST Lego League Robotics Tournament at Grace Lutheran School.  The students had prepared well for the day, having their project, robot and missions planned beforehand.  They also spent a great deal of the day working on and refining their programming and robot.  Even though not everything ran according to their plan on the day, as teachers, we were extraordinarily proud of how well the students worked together as a team, how they identified, collaborated and worked to solve the problems by themselves.  Their teamwork and persistence was terrific.  At times you could see the mental strain they had placed upon themselves to attempt to solve these problems.  They were mentally exhausted at the end of the day.
St Kevin’s was one of 50 schools competing and the only Catholic school involved in the tournament.  We were also one of very few primary schools involved in the competition. As a school we are very fortunate to have a P&F who are so supportive of this extra-curricular activity and for having teachers, who are willing to share their skills and time with the students.
