Australian Bush Poet Visits St Kevin's

Renowned Australian Bush Poet, Noel Stallard, visited our Year 4 classes on Monday 10 October. Noel brought a love of poetry to the classroom by presenting his renditions of some well-known Australian Bush Ballads, using the children as props and characters.
After thirty five years of teaching in both Primary and Secondary Schools, Noel Stallard re-signed from teaching, in order to take traditional bush poetry to the young, and not so young, people of Australia.
The children thoroughly enjoyed Noel’s visit and being introduced to the works of Banjo Paterson, C.J. Dennis, Henry Lawson and Noel Stallard himself, who has also published poetry he has written. It was a journey of discovery and interaction. All 48 children and the 2 teachers, joined in Noel’s rendition of his poem “The Bush Animals’ Band”.
